Application Process

Your application process begins with your online application. The button below will take you to our admissions website in TADS, where you can create an account and apply. The application checklist has complete details on the process and timeline.  Scroll down for the financial aid application and HSPT registration, which is included with your application fee.

Step 1: Apply

$50 non-refundable application fee.  

1st Priority Deadline is Dec. 18, 2019 (Priority First Round Admission & Financial Aid Consideration)

2nd Priority Deadline is Jan. 15, 2020 (Second Round Admission & Financial Aid Consideration)

Application Materials (Supplemental Docs – see below) for 1st and 2nd Priority Deadlines are due January 30th

Final Application Deadline (Third Round)  February 15, 2020

Step 2: Supplemental Docs

6th, 7th and 8th grade transcripts and STAR or CAASPP Scores

Recommendation forms from: Math teacher, English teach and Principal/Counselor

Step 3: Register for HSPT

The HSPT is the required admissions test for all Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. It measures high school preparedness, and is one element that we use to determine whether a student will be a good fit for our school community.  HSPT fee is included in the application fee.  Students applying to St. John Paul II can take the HSPT on our scheduled date or have their scores transferred from another testing location.

Test Date: Feb 1, 2020 9am-12p

Step 4: Interview

Interviews will be held February 3-14, 2020.

Step 5: Financial Aid – Application Deadline is January 30, 2020

All of our Financial Aid applications will be processed by a trusted company, TADS, which serves Catholic Schools and families across the country.  You may find the below documents helpful in setting up your account and learning more about the financial aid process.

CEF held a session processing applications for 2020-2021 at St. John Paul II STEM Academy on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

Additional future appointments may be available.  To find out, please navigate to 

  • Students who have received CEF awards during their years in Catholic elementary school will be invited to apply for a high school award. (Cycle 1)
  • New or previously waitlisted applicants may apply through St. John Paul II STEM Academy. (Cycle 2)
  • All Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 applicants are asked to attend an on-site processing event as soon as possible but before January 12, 2020 in all cases.
Proof of Income
Acceptable proof of income documents include your 2018 Federal Income Tax Return (1040) or a NOTARIZED STATEMENT OF INCOME document. See CEF Guidelines for Acceptable Proof of Income Documentation on Page 3 of the application for more details and requirements.
